Natal Volunteer Hotchkiss
The regiment was raised in Pietermaritzburg in September 1899 under Captain Walker with a compliment of 25. Their weaponry consisted of consisted of two 3 lb. Hotchkiss Breach Loading guns firing a percussion shell approximately 3200 metres and one 9 lb. RML 8 CWT which was obsolete. They were with the Besieged Force in particular at Platrand, on Wagon Hill, where 2 men were killed and 5 wounded. They were disbanded in November 1900
