Devons Post
Devons Post is in section ‘C’ and sited on the north-eastern and very little has changed in the last century.
A map drawn by Lieutenant Reade of the Kings Royal Rifles shows that the Post was held by the 60th Rifles from January 1900 and a note in Colonel Parks diary on 19th December talks of the Devons changing places with the Liverpools closer to town. This move undoubtedly assisted the regiment when they were called upon to proceed at the double to Wagon Hill on the 6th January where they, arguably, saved the town. The Post had 2 Maxim-Nordenfeldts.
