THE KINGS ROYAL RIFLE CORPS CHRONICLE
The Battle of Talana.
Page 124 – Poor Hambrough was almost immediately hit in the jaw, and several men in W’s company wounded close to me. Sergeant George had his fingers badly smashed by a bullet.
Page 125 – describes the attack on Talana then… after we had gone about 100 yards we found we were being infiladed from the right, so we laid down for about five minutes well under cover. Taylor got hit here, the wound was a very nasty one.
The fire was very hot, and we lost several men including Colour Sergeant Edwards and Sergeant Abrames in my company….
Taylor came on, and I shall never forget him sword in one hand and revolver in the other urging his men on.
Page 126 -The way Hambrough went on after his jaw was broken was a thing to be remembered.
