Fort Wylie

During early October 1899 ‘C’ Company Durban Light Infantry under Captain JS Wylie crossed the Tugela at Colenso and established “Fort Wylie on a small rocky hill overlooking the railway bridge. In addition a small detachment of Natal Naval Volunteers with one gun under Lieutenant Anderton was established in the Fort.
