Brian Kaighin
Born Fulham London 2nd march 1938 and soon moved to Hayes End Middlesex, circa 1940, always suspected Dad had inside link to Adolf becase we missed most of the bombing; Just joking!
Career started with an apprenticeship in mechanical engineering followed by work study, engineering management then caravan manufacture which eventually brought me to South Africa 27 years ago and where I’m now retired and enjoying the sunshine.
The photograph was taken in the Oxford bar in Edinburgh, a favourite pub of Ian Rankin’s John Rebus.
Married to wife Beryl with two great stepchildren Michelle and Rowan.
Interests include fly fishing but very much a novice, painting, watching rugby, cricket and football; the first two South African only, the last one the English Premiership.
An avid reader, mainly fiction an best enjoy dectective stories where the main character is a British policeman. Favourites are Ian Rankin(John Rebus), Quinton Jardine(Bob Skinner), Graham Hurley(Joe Faraday), Reginald Hill and always on the lookout for others. Family came from Glasgow which is probably why Rankin and Jardine are top of my list; Edinburgh, for me, has the edge over London but my favourite place if I had the money would be Porthleven Cornwall.
My non fiction reads are biographies, Victorian and Roman history.
